There’s just something about birds…
I was sitting on the beach in Cayucos, CA when this pelican casually mounted my friend’s surfboard & assumed the shredding position. Ten minutes later, a self-identified “game warden” viciously grabbed the pelican by the neck, put it in a cage & walked off to his truck with no more explanation than, “it’s sick.” I hope the pelican had a chance to live out its days in peace, but if not, I’m grateful to have shared this moment with it.
